Hole Cutters for Woodworkers
The Hole Pro twin blade hole cutters are ideal for quickly cutting holes in wood, laminates, Formica, MDF and other composite materials. The unique twin blade Hole Pro models are inherently well balanced for smoother operation at any speed.
For high volume production environments where hundreds of holes need to be made at exactly the same diameter, we recommend the Twin Blade X-Model hole cutters which have thicker measure bars and a blade holder that is tightened around the bar using a hex wrench. The X-model hole cutters will not loosen or shift even with hundreds of holes or when cutting laminates where there is greater vibration of the tool. The X-model hole cutters can be used with or without their shield in a drill press. The shields minimize dust in the shop and protect the operator without interfering with the use of the tool.
For use in a stationary drill press the HH-200 is ideal. It will cut any size hole from 1 5/8" up to 8" in diameter in materials up to 1 3/16" thick (can cut up to 2 3/8" thick by cutting from both sides and using the pilot hole to align the tool for the second cut). The HH-300 cuts holes from 1 7/8" to 12" in diameter.
The HH-200 has a Forstner center pilot bit and twin High Speed Steel blades for cuts that are much smoother than if cut with a hole saw. The blades with their even cutting operation are much safer to use on delicate materials than conventional hole saws with their cutting teeth. And unlike hole saws, when the blades of the HH-200 hole cutter's blades become dull they can be replaced by the operator in seconds.
The HT-200 has comparable characteristics as the HH-200 but comes with Tungsten Carbide blades for hard materials.
The HHT-200 is the cutter of choice when both High Speed Steel or Tungsten Carbide Blades will be used. The HHT-200 comes with a set of both blade types.
When cutting holes using a hand drill conventional cup style hole saws have a lot of surface area to grab the work piece being cut. This is especially likely if the drill is not held perfectly perpendicular to the surface being cut. When the cup saw grabs or binds the drill starts to rotate the operator in the opposite direction, often resulting in injury.
Hole Pro® Power Series (X-148, X-230+ and X-305) twin blade adjustable hole cutters with their clear plastic dust shields eliminate these problems. The clear dust shield, in addition to trapping dust and shavings, insures that the hole cutter is perpendicular to the work surface, even when cutting upside down and supporting the drill with only one hand. With its ball bearing center to support the cutting tool and the soft rubber gasket to provide a dust seal, it works like a portable drill press and dust collector. All dust along with the cut plug is safely trapped in the dust shield for quick disposal.
All Hole Pro Power Series adjustable hole cutters have a unique clear ABS composite plastic dust and safety shield. Although more expensive to manufacture, these shields are the lightest and strongest shields made today. The patented dust shield with its patented tri-slot design catches the shavings as the hole cutter spins which keeps the work surface visible during the cutting operation regardless of the orientation of the drill and hole cutter. The Power Series models can be safely used in a drill press without the shields if desired, but the shields should always be in place when used with a hand drill.
